Mike Kennedy: Winner of the 2024 -2025 Jeff Munn Volunteer of the Year Award

🏒🌟 Congratulations to Mike Kennedy, winner of the LHA’s Jeff Munn Volunteer of the Year Award for 2024-25. 🌟🏒

Glowing nominations describe the important role Mike Kennedy fills as the Head Coach of our U16 AA team. “Mike has been a great role model for our boys. His firm but friendly approach to these teenagers has elevated the team from an average AA team to one of the top teams in the province”. 🙌

“Mike’s dedication and commitment to the team have been exceptional”. Parents appreciate the way Mike tailors practices and one-on-one discussions to meet the individual needs of each player. He has been able to help players improve their skills, gain a deeper understanding of the game and develop both as athletes and as teammates. “Mike’s approach to coaching is defined by his patience, fairness, and unwavering desire to see the team succeed.”

Off the ice, Mike’s positive spirit has been instrumental in building a strong unifying bond within the team “As our team’s success has grown this season, Mike has maintained a culture of performance, camaraderie and fun amongst the team and the parents”. He is also recognized as deeply committed to helping his players reach their full potential “…he’s thinking as much or more about the life lessons and memories these young men are gaining versus the on ice results. In addition to coaching U16AA, Mike served as an assistant coach on his older son’s team (2006A) from U8 to U17. We are grateful for all the time, energy and positivity that Mike has given to hockey at the LHA and we are excited to watch this team continue to grow over the next two years.
