About Learn to Play

Learn-to-Play is designed for children aged 4 (Under 5) to 7 (Under 8) who have little to no skating experience or previous exposure to hockey.

Weekly one hour sessions are delivered by professional coaches from Healy Hockey. Players are grouped by ability and led through drills and fun games that will help develop a basic skating stride and other mechanical skills fundamental to hockey. As soon as participants demonstrate they are ready, they are able to join our Hockey School program.

Learn-to-Play 1 runs from October to December and Learn-to-Play 2 runs from from October to April.

Please reach out to our Emily Pengelly if you have any questions

First Shift Returns to Leaside

The LHA is delighted to have the First Shift Program return to Leaside.

The NHL/NHLPA First Shift program is designed to facilitate entry into hockey with a program that is accessible, affordable, safe, and FUN! For most, it is their first time ever on skates!
Our participants have received head-to-toe hockey equipment from  Bauer and will receive six weeks of instruction at Leaside Arena. A big THANK YOU to the team from the LHA who secured our involvement and to our instructors from Healy Hockey Solutions.
