About Learn to Play

The Leaside Hockey Association's Learn To Play program is designed for our youngest players, ages 4 (Under 5), 5 (Under 6), or 6 (Under 7) who are new to hockey. The program is best suited to players that are comfortable on the ice without a parent, as parents are NOT permitted on the ice.

Our Learn To Play program includes a weekly, one-hour skill development session delivered by professional coaches. During each session, players are arranged by ability into smaller groups and our coaches use play-based drills and small area games to build the foundational skills required to play hockey. When necessary, age-appropriate equipment such as skating aids, lighter blue pucks and small nets are used to help build confidence on the ice. Players in the Learn To Play program enjoy a higher than average instructor to player ratio so participants receive the attention they need to ensure a safe, fun and productive experience.

Players that are six years of age or older (U7+) are encouraged to join our House League program.
