The LHA is delighted to announce the First Shift Program will return to Leaside Arena in February 2025. First Shift is a program designed by the NHL and the NHL Players Association to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. Every effort is made to create a lasting love for hockey by:
- taking away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game,
- removing potential safety concerns, and most importantly,
- providing an experience that is memorable and FUN.
Accessible, Affordable, Safe and FUN are the goals of the First Start Program. If your child is new-to-hockey and interested in attending the program, please fill out this form to determine your eligibility.
Be a First Shift Volunteer
Share your love of hockey while earning high school volunteer hours as a First Shift Assistant Instructor. Sessions will be held on Saturdays from 1 - 3 pm at Leaside Arena. Six sessions in total run from February 15 - April 5, 2025. Volunteer for one, two or as many as six sessions. Must be a current LHA Select, A or AA player in the U15 to U18 age groups. If interested, please complete a volunteer application.
City of Toronto Ice Survey

The ICE SURVEY takes between 10 and 20 minutes and is available until January 5th, 2025. We encourage all LHA members to please complete the survey and share your views on the ongoing need for more, not less, recreational ice in the City of Toronto.
