CDS is now CDHP!

Leaside Hockey is pleased to announce that the Competitive Development Stream (CDS) and Competitive Development Program (CDP) have merged and will now operate as the Competitive Development Hockey Pathway (CDHP).

CDHP is designed to give our youngest players a fun, comprehensive and age-appropriate hockey development experience in accordance with the Hockey Canada and Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Player Development Model.

CDHP also strives to provide players and their families with a more consistent, time-efficient hockey schedule primarily on local rinks in our community. As such, CDHP will maintain an east and a west division to maximize local games where possible.

For those families who are already involved in CDS, the new CDHP should not result in any large changes.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, please reach out to VP CDHP Behn Conroy at vpcdhp@leasidehockey.com

About Competitive Development Hockey Pathway (CDHP)

CDHP (formerly CDS) is a great opportunity for our youngest players to build on their House League experience by playing with a Leaside team that competes against other nearby hockey clubs. CDHP is also excellent preparation for future participation on a Competitive AA, A or Select team (U10 - U18).

CDHP games follow the Ontario Hockey Federation Player Development Model designed to develop both age-appropriate hockey skills and a lifelong love for the game. CDHP games also follow specific Rules and Gameplay that differ by age.

Every year, all LHA House League players that would like to play CDHP are evaluated and placed on a CDHP team with players of a similar skill level.

To be eligible to join a CDHP team and attend the evaluation skates, players must be registered in the LHA House League program and reside within the GTHL's Territorial Jurisdiction (rule 18.9c).

CDHP Players participate on both a House League team and their CDHP team. Please note that CDHP is an additional commitment of time and cost beyond House League as players enjoy additional practices and games each week with their CDHP team.

At the U7, U8, and U9 age levels, our House League program is tiered to create balanced teams and divisions. Tiering helps ensure all players have fun by playing with and against similarly skilled players. Re-balancing of players in House League may occur up to Dec. 1st

Players registered in Learn To Play are not eligible for CDHP.

As a volunteer-driven organization, the LHA relies on parent involvement to make each program a success. Parents who are interested in taking a more active role in their child's experience are strongly encouraged to volunteer.

Please reach out to Catherine at coordinator@leasidehockey.com if you have any questions about CDHP or if you would like to volunteer.
