CDS Spring Evaluations 2025

The LHA was thrilled to see such a strong turnout for our CDS Evaluations held this past April at Leaside Arena. We're excited to welcome several new teams to our CDS Program and are looking forward to an exciting season ahead.

If your child is interested in playing CDS but missed the 2025 evaluations, please contact Catherine at coordinator@leasidehockey.com.

LHA Joins NYHL U9 (2017) Elite Division for 2025 - 26

The LHA is pleased to announce the LHA will be joining the recently established NYHL U9 (2017) Elite Division for the 2025 -26 season. The Elite Division is designed to give our U9 RED players a robust Tier 1 competitive experience against other participating clubs like North Toronto, Ted Reeve, Vaughan Rangers and Humber Valley.

About CDS Hockey

Competitive Development Stream (CDS) hockey gives our youngest players their first opportunity to expand their House League experience by playing on a Leaside team that competes against other hockey clubs. CDS is excellent preparation for future participation on a GTHL or Select team (U10 - U18).

Every year, all LHA House League players that would like to play CDS are evaluated and placed on a CDS team with players of a similar skill level. CDS is an additional commitment of time and cost as players enjoy additional practices and games each week with their CDS team. As a volunteer-driven organization, the LHA relies on parent involvement to make each program a success. Parents who are interested in taking a more active role in their child's experience are strongly encouraged to volunteer.

NEW for 2025-26 House League, U7-U9

  • Two (2) separate tiers in each U7, U8 and U9.
    • House League Tier - Non-CDS House League players are placed on teams that play each other.
    • CDS Tier - CDS House League players are placed on teams that play each other.
  • Ensures players have fun and they play with like skilled players.
  • Creates better team and division balance.
  • Re-balancing may occur up to Dec. 1st to ensure balanced teams as much as possible.

To be eligible to join a CDS team, players must be registered in the LHA House League program. Players registered in Learn To Play are not eligible for CDS.

CDS games follow the Ontario Hockey Federation Player Development Model designed to develop both age-appropriate hockey skills and a lifelong love for the game. CDS games also follow specific Rules and Gameplay that differ by age.

Please reach out to Catherine at coordinator@leasidehockey.com if you have any questions about CDS or if you would like to volunteer.
