About Select Hockey
Select Hockey is a fantastic opportunity for our House League players to enjoy non-contact competitive hockey against other clubs. Teams are selected by a tryout process and the LHA is proud to offer two select teams, both a "Red" and "Gold" team, at every age from U10 to U18.
Select players take on an important leadership role in our House League program. We rely on Select players to demonstrate strong hockey skills and provide support to other players in the House League program. In addition to the weekly House League practice and game, Select players will also enjoy practices and games with their Select team.
Each year, the LHA hosts the Leaside Invitational Tournament. With more than 100 teams and 1,900 players, this is a season highlight for everyone in our Select program.
Our Select teams compete in the North York Hockey League (NYHL). With more than 28 member associations and over 250 teams, the NYHL is the largest community based Select program in Canada. The NYHL is operated by the GTHL, which is one of seven (7) member organizations of the Ontario Hockey Federation.
