First Shift Volunteers

The LHA is looking for volunteers to serve as assistant instructors for our upcoming NHL/NHLPA First Shift Program. The program runs from February 15 - April 5th and provides an opportunity for current LHA Select/A, AA players ages 14 - 18 to share their love of hockey with children new-to-the-game AND secure high school volunteer hours.

The commitment is for 2 hours from 1 -3 pm and involves the following tasks under the supervision of the program lead:

• Deliver on-ice curriculum as provided by Hockey Canada and instructed by the program lead.

• Provide instruction based on the program philosophy.

• Focus on fun.

• Provide locker room support to participants and parents before and after on-ice session.

• Demonstrate effective leadership on and off the ice.

• Teach and model respectful behavior, fairness, and good sportsmanship.

Interested players should complete the following application and clearly indicate the sessions requested. Each volunteer will receive two (2) volunteer hours for each session.
